Red Dot Corp., a leader in climate control systems for heavy-duty vehicles, today introduced a sealed, microprocessor-controlled rotary actuator developed specifically for 12- and 24-volt mobile HVAC applications.
Designed for commercial trucks, military vehicles, and off-highway equipment used in construction, agriculture, and other demanding environments, Red Dot’s actuator is ideal for managing air-distribution doors, water valves, and other functions where durability and precise, electronically controlled actuation are required. It is environmentally sealed to IP68 standards (+/- 5 psi internal or external pressure) to resist moisture and other contaminants found in harsh operating conditions.
The actuator’s dual-voltage capability allows it to be used in 12- or 24-volt applications, delivering versatility from a single part number. Its microprocessor control is designed to maintain a constant torque across the range of operating voltage and automatically reduce torque in a stalled condition. “This level of precision means less stress on components and the potential for longer service life,” says Gary Hansen, vice president, Red Dot.
Additionally, the Red Dot actuator offers these benefits:
Red Dot’s actuator is manufactured in Seattle, Wash., and is available for aftermarket or original equipment installation.
Red Dot designs and builds premium climate control components, integrated systems, replacement parts, and aftermarket units for vehicles in demanding work environments all over the world. Product applications include construction, mining, agriculture, forestry, military, commercial freight, and emergency service vehicles.
Based in Seattle, Red Dot has 400 employees in the United States, Europe, Mexico, and China, and more than 175 aftermarket distributor locations in North America.
