TRP Offers Aluminum Wheels for Greater Fuel Efficiency

RENTON, Wash., Feb. 1, 2013 — TRP announces the availability of aluminum wheels for all makes of trucks and trailers, offering significant weight reduction and fuel efficiency benefits to operators everywhere.

Available in 22.5-inch and 24.5-inch sizes in both machined and high-polish finishes, TRP aluminum wheels are forged from one piece of corrosion-resistant aluminum for added strength and durability. They also come with a 5-year warranty, providing truck fleets and operators worry-free service.

“TRP aluminum wheels can reduce truck and trailer weight by several hundred pounds compared to steel wheels,” said Jeff Hughes, TRP development manager. “So weight-conscious operators looking for more payload capacity can greatly benefit by switching to lighter TRP aluminum wheels.”

The cooler-running TRP aluminum wheels also improve tire and brake life. With lower overall maintenance costs and a better appearance, TRP aluminum wheels offer added value as a replacement option for used trucks and trailers.

Replacing cracked or damaged wheels with lighter, more durable TRP aluminum wheels also gives operators the chance to avoid costly out-of-service violations during roadside inspections.

The North American Standard Out-of-Service Criteria, published by the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance, establishes clear parameters for out-of-service violations. If inspectors find any circumferential crack on the rim, any crack exceeding three inches on the disc wheel, a crack extending between any two holes or two or more cracks anywhere on the disc wheel, they can declare a truck out-of-service.

“Replacing old wheels with lighter, corrosion-resistant TRP aluminum wheels offers fleets and truck operators a greater potential to avoid out-of-service violations, to dress up their trucks and trailers and to make more money,” Hughes said.

For more information visit the TRP web site, or call or visit a preferred authorized TRP retailer, including any Kenworth and Peterbilt dealership.
